2010 - 2011 Mayor Councillor R. H. McNicholl Function:
Sunday June 13, 2010, Civic Sunday parade and service

The Douglas Borough Council Civic Sunday service and parade took place on Sunday June 13, 2010. His Worship the Mayor, Mr Councillor Ritchie McNicholl, J.P., accompanied by the Mayoress, Mrs Julie McNicholl and Deputy Mayor Mr Councillor Stephen Pitts, led the civic party and followed the parade from Douglas Town Hall to St George’s Church via Ridgeway Street, Prospect Hill, Athol Street and Upper Church Street. The service was conducted by Archdeacon the Venerable Brian Smith and the Mayor’s Chaplain the Reverend Les Lawrinson. The organist was Mr Chris Idle.

In a short welcome address at a reception held afterwards in the Council Chamber of Douglas Town Hall the Mayor thanked his guests for attending and Archdeacon Smith and Reverend Lawrinson for conducting the service so seamlessly, and he made special reference to the ‘marvellous singing’ by the choir and congregation. In concluding Councillor McNicholl said he was looking forward to inviting as broad a representation of the local community as possible into the Mayor’s parlour during his year in office.
