The Borough Treasurer’s Department provides the following services;
Income Services
The Income Services Section collects rents, rates, fines and other debts payable to Douglas Borough Council, manages mortgage bonds, controls bank balances and borrowing and investment of Funds. The section also provides a comprehensive secretarial/support service for the Department, including the input of data to the Council's information technology systems. Payments can be made at the payment counter at the Town Hall, by Debit Card on telephone number (01624) 696344 or online or by Direct Debit. Payments for certain services can be made online.
Financial Services
The Financial Services Section undertakes payments to staff, manual workers and suppliers on behalf of the Council. It also provides insurance cover, budgetary and financial information and advice to the various Committees and to officers. This section produces the annual budget which makes the rate, and ensures that annual accounts are published in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Isle of Man Local Government Pension Scheme
The Financial Services Section is also responsible for administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme on the Isle of Man. The scheme has contributors from most local authorities, joint boards and some charities and pays the pensions of former employees. Public Library
The Borough Treasurers Department also manages the Henry Bloom Noble Library situated on 10 Victoria Street. The library provides a quality information, lending and reference service together with an IT suite with Internet and email facilities.
