Mayor and Mayoress attend Sir William Hillary commemorative service

The Mayor and Mayoress attended the annual commemorative service to honour the memory of Sir William Hillary, the founder of the RNLI, on Sunday January 13 at St George’s Church, Douglas.

His Worship gave a reading from the Bible at the service, which was conducted by the Archdeacon of Man the Ven Andrew Brown.

 

The Deputy Governor, the First Deemster Andrew Corlett, laid a wreath on the tomb of Sir William and Lady Hillary in St George’s churchyard after the service.

 

The RNLI was represented at the service by its chief executive, Vice-Admiral Paul Bosier CB MA MSc.

 

After the service the Mayor and Mayoress joined guests and the crew, committee and supporters of the Douglas RNLI station at the South Douglas Old Friends’ Association in Finch Road for light refreshments.
