Shaw’s Brow car park resurfacing

Resurfacing work to level six of Shaw’s Brow car has begun.

The project to apply a new waterproof surface to the car park’s top deck is anticipated to be completed in six weeks, four should the weather remain dry, with approximately half of the deck returned to use two weeks after the start of the work.

During the work level six contract customers will be allocated spaces on level 4 and businesses and residents in the immediate vicinity notified.

Environmental services advisory committee lead member Councillor Ritchie McNicholl said: ‘Being located conveniently in the centre of Douglas Shaw’s Brow does, of course, receive heavy use. Naturally we regret the disruption the work will cause, however the Council is committed to maintaining its assets in good condition and, to this end, it was important the exposed top deck was resurfaced this year ahead of the winter. We have chosen August for the work to commence as we would anticipate a modest reduction in demand for spaces during that time; we also hope the weather will be drier than of late which will shorten the project by an expected two weeks.’

The Council also provides secure barrier-operated parking at its other town centre site, the Bottleneck car park and at Pulrose Road.
