An exhibition of Douglas horse tram memorabilia spanning more than a century was held on July 27 and 28 to coincide with the 2012 Manx Heritage Transport Festival.
The exhibition at the Strathallan Suite in Douglas featured a display of photographs and other memorabilia, curated and organised by tram enthusiast Debbie Watterson together with her mother, Val Watterson. (Pictured).
Owned and operated by Douglas Borough Council, the horse tram service is recognised as one of the world’s oldest, inaugurated in 1876.
Now in its 136th year the 2012 Douglas horse tram service operates daily until Sunday September 16th from 9am to 6pm. Tickets can be bought on board while season tickets can be purchased from Douglas town hall and at the Strathallan terminus, or online.
In addition, seven-day Explorer tickets offering unlimited travel on the horse trams, railways and scheduled bus services can be purchased from the tram station or the Isle of Man Welcome Centre in the Sea Terminal
