Douglas Borough Council’s Civic Sunday service and parade took place on Sunday June 9th.

StepsDSC 4612 MediumThe civic party prepares to depart from Douglas town hallHer Worship the Mayor Councillor Mrs Carol Malarkey JP was accompanied by the Mayor’s consort Mr Councillor Bill Malarkey and joined by Deputy Mayor Mr Councillor Stan Cain and Deputy Mayoress Mrs Sheila Cain in the civic party that departed from Douglas Town Hall and processed to St Thomas’ Church via Douglas Promenade.


The service was conducted by the Mayor’s Chaplain, the Rev Les Lawrinson.


The first lesson was read by the Deputy Mayor, the second by Her Worship, while soloist Christian Cooper, who sang Ave Maria and Ellan Vannin prompted spontaneous applause from the congregation.
