Location: Situated in central Douglas in Victoria Street near the Town Hall. There is a bus stop near the Library and full disabled access to the facilities.
Opening Hours: 9.15am – 5.30pm Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri and Sat and 10am – 5.30pm every Wednesday. Closed Sundays and Public Holidays.
How to Join: All borrowers must complete an Application Form and show a suitable document with their name and home address for identification. Young persons under the age of 16 years must obtain the signature of their parent or guardian.
Subscriptions: Membership is free to all Residents and Ratepayers of the Borough of Douglas. The current annual subscription for Non-Residents is £24 for adults, £12.00 for senior citizens and £2 for children 16 and under(reviewed annually).
Visitors to the Island may join free of charge on a temporary basis on production of a current library ticket from their home authority.
Loan Period: The normal loan period for books and audio tapes is 4 weeks. Renewals may be made by phone or in person, as may other enquiries. Fines for overdue items are charged at the current rate.
Reservations: Books and audio items may be reserved on payment of the reservation fee of 50p. Suggestions for new purchases are welcomed. Out-of-print material may be obtained through the British Library's interlibrary loan system, a fee is payable for this service. Please ask a member of staff for more details.
Facilities:
The ground floor consists of the children's and teenage sections. It also houses the fiction and large print books for adults. It is also where you will find the colour photocopier.
The first floor contains a reading area where there is a selection of English and Manx newspapers available and a selection of magazines to read. The first floor also has a hot drinks machine for the public to use. This floor is where you will find the non-fiction books and the crime / science fiction sections.
The second floor is our reference area where you will find our Manx collection, general reference books and the public access computers with internet and email access.

The resources below are available for library users. Note you will be asked to enter your Reader Number when accessing from outside of the library. If you wish to access these resources from home/work and you are not a member of the library, you will need to join. Please come into the library and bring with you an official form of ID (e.g. a driving license or utility bill. We shall then issue you with a library card and Reader Number.
