Borough rates are payable on domestic and commercial properties. Please notify this Authority upon change of occupancy or ownership of premises within the Borough: contact (01624) 696355 or e-mail rates.
Debit card – Debit card payments can either be made over the telephone on (01624) 696344 at the counter or online
Simply ring (01624) 696344, ensuring you have your details and payment counterfoil. (Please note credit cards are NOT accepted.)
Cheque – please make payable to “Douglas Borough Council” and attach to your payment counterfoil. Post-dated cheques will NOT be accepted;
Cash – it is considered essential for any cash payment sent by post to be registered. Please enclose your payment counterfoil.
The payment counter in the Borough Treasurer’s Department in the Town Hall is open 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
A discount of 5% is available if payment in full for the rates is received before 4.00 p.m. on the last working day in June within the rates year. Any payments received after this point will not be eligible for discount under any circumstances.

In the Isle of Man there is no empty properties relief, i.e. rates are still due in full if a building is empty or in single occupancy.
An exemption is available for properties used wholly and exclusively for charitable purposes or religious worship. In order to apply for this please download a charities exemption form below.
