The North Quay outdoor market has been hailed a success. Chris Pycroft from Douglas Development Partnership, one of the organisations that supported the event, said: ‘It went really well. Feedback from the traders and members of the public has been positive and we’ll be exploring holding similar events in the future.'
For event co-ordinator and Douglas Market Hall trader Chris Carr response to the market, held on July 24, was ‘overwhelming’. He said: ‘I was absolutely delighted how well the market fitted in with the whole concept of the regenerated North Quay. Despite the rain the quay was filled with people and traders reported record sales, which just goes to show that markets attract customers whatever the weather. The event certainly raised the profile of the North Quay and of the Market Hall and I’d hope to hold at least one more market before the end of the year, perhaps around Christmas time.’
