Dan is the Director of Housing and Property at Douglas City Council, the department manages over 2,300 homes and houses over 4,000 people, plus a number of key civic, operational and commercial buildings across the city. The Council is the largest provider of housing on the Island, whether social or private, offering a mix of general housing and sheltered housing (for those over 65). The department has a clear vision to provide quality, affordable, and efficient homes for those people in housing need. 

Community is at the heart of what the team does, with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service and support to applicants and tenants, maintaining existing homes, developing new housing and supporting these communities.  

The team balances housing need, financial sustainability, and community impact, ensuring services and standards meet the unique needs of the Island. 

Beyond social housing, the team manages the Council’s commercial buildings, oversees maintenance of the Council’s internal operational buildings, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
