Local authority elections will take place on Thursday, 24th April, 2025. Douglas Council will have 12 vacant seats, split between the four Wards, Central, East, North and South.
To stand as a local authority member, you must appear on the Register of Electors - you do not have to be registered in the constituency for which you are standing. The registration deadline to stand in the upcoming election is 24th February 2025 and the registration deadline to vote in the election is 25th March 2025. The term of office is 4 years. Nomination packs will be available in March 2025.

Nomination packs will be available on 19th March and Douglas City Council intends to hold open days for prospective candidates ahead of nominations opening. Dates for the open days will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Elected Members are required to attend regular Committee, Council and other meetings. All Council and Committee Meetings take place during office hours and generally last no longer than half a day. An attendance allowance can be claimed as follows;
1. Daytime rate: £12.50 per hour (to a maximum of £50 per session)
2. Evening rate - £7.50 per hour (to a maximum of £30 per session)
The maximum yearly allowance available is £6,000.
