Douglas Head is a headland area ideal for long walks and exercising dogs.

There are many interesting points of interest in the area including the Camera Obscura, a Victorian lighthouse and the William Hillary statue.

Famous for founding the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in 1824, Hillary was a former island resident revered in Manx history.

The statue in his honour can be found on the headland and is accompanied by a commemorative plaque.

In recent years the Council has substantially upgraded sections  of Douglas Head, with a viewing platform, picnic tables and new paths.
