Armed Forces Community Covenant

The Armed Forces Community Covenant is a voluntary pledge to support the armed forces community.

It is a statement of support from Douglas Borough Council that recognises the value armed forces personnel - regular and reservists, veterans and military familes - contribute to the Manx nation.

As signatory to the Covenant the Council also pledges to promote understanding and awareness of the Island's armed forces community.

The Community Covenant underpins the Isle of Man Government Armed Forces Community Covenant and supports the UK Government Armed Forces Covenant which sets out the responsibilities to those who serve or who have served in the British Armed Forces and their families.

The Community Covenant was signed on behalf of Douglas Borough Council on Wednesday November 30, 2016 by his Worship the Mayor, Councillor John Skinner JP and on behalf of the armed forces community by Staff sergeant Ian Openshaw. To read the news item click here.
