A key development in the long-term protection of Douglas’ historic seafront could move a step closer later this month.

Douglas City Council has confirmed changes to its popular hanging basket programme for summer 2025 due to operational reasons. 

Three local charities are set to benefit from a year of fundraising by the newly elected Mayor of Douglas, Mr Councillor Steven Robert Crellin, JP.

An ambitious £40 million refurbishment programme for more than 700 family homes in Willaston is continuing apace.

Council welcomes Single Status agreement

Douglas City Council has officially endorsed the agreement to implement Single Status across its workforce, marking a significant milestone.

An election will be held in Douglas City Council’s South Ward next month.

The Eastern Civic Amenity Site Joint Committee announced new charges for waste electrical items on January 10, 2025. This followed a notification from the Department of Infrastructure (DOI) on December 23, 2024, regarding the appointment of a new contractor for “the collection, storage, and export for recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and household batteries”. 

Ahead of April’s local authority elections, Douglas City Council is to host three informal drop-in sessions for aspiring Councillors.
